How to Overcome Dental Anxiety
How to Overcome Dental Anxiety
Why are so many people afraid of the dentist?
Dental fear usually traces back to a past bad experience, a fear of pain, or a feeling of losing control in the chair. It is far more common than people think, and at our practice it is met with patience, not judgment.
What helps in the moment?
Tell us what worries you, and we agree on a signal to pause anytime. We explain each step before we do it, numb the area thoroughly, and let you take breaks. Small amounts of control make a large difference.
What comfort and sedation options are available?
We offer three levels of sedation matched to you: nitrous, oral, and IV. Dr. Greg McElroy is among a small number of dentists certified in IV sedation, and the practice’s anesthesia provider handles the deepest cases. We plan your care around your comfort.
How do I take the first step?
You do not have to book a procedure to start. Send us your questions through Ask a Quick Question, tell us your concerns, and we will help you feel ready. There is no pressure and no judgment.
